Google Tools Project Reflection

While taking MIS course, I knew some of Google tools and started to use it. These tools are very useful; I learned many new things in it and started to use it in my daily life. Some of the Google tools that I used are Gmail, Google searching, Blogs, Google Picasa, Google Calendar and many other tools. In each of these tools, I used useful things in it and will show you how I used it.

Gmail: I have been always using the Hotmail to send and read emails but, after knowing about Gmail I found it more attractive and useful. I received most of my emails on it instead of the Hotmail.

Google Search: The main thing that Google Search helped me in is in doing my reports; I used it to search and find information for my reports and projects. I did not use it only for searching, there are lots of things that I do in it such as knowing the weather, find definitions and calculate numbers.

Blogs: I use Blogs to share the things that happing in my life with my friends and family. I share videos and pictures with them.

Google Picasa: I use Google Picasa to organize my pictures, edit them and share them with others. After using Google Picasa, all of my pictures have been organized and in one place which made it easier for me to see them. In Google Picasa I can add effects to my pictures and do whatever I want on them. I can add text to the picture; change the font, the size and the color.

Google Calendar: Google Calendar is a very helpful tool, it helps me a lot. I organize my schedule in it such as my exams, projects, appointments and meeting. Moreover, I did not know that in Google Calendar, I could have more than one Calendar so; I believe that this is the most exciting feature in Google Calendar and it is easy to use.

I really believe that Google tools help me a lot in my studies; they helped me in doing my projects. I was hoping that I was knowing them before, they would saved my time and its easy to use them.

Friends

Friends is an American sitcom, that take about a group of friends in Manhattan. I enjoy watching it a lot, its comedy and contain lots of funny actress. I saw all the series and I felt very sad when its finish. There are lots of actress in it such as Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlance, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer.

Each of these actresses has his own personality and specialty; I personally liked Matt LeBlance & Jennifer Aniston personality. Matt LeBlance who is known as Joey Tribbiani in the movie, is a struggling actor and food devotee. Joey is a simple-minded and caring character with good intentions. He often uses the catchphrase " How you doing".Friends received positive reviews throughout its run, becoming one of the most popular sitcoms of all time. The series won many awards and was nominated for 63 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Nowadays, there is a symbol that most UAE citizens are using when they have a picture. They lift three fingers, in the past we used to lift two fingers which mean peace. We lift three fingers as his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice president & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai did. He said that they mean victory, win &  love

People started using it a lot:

Cinema

Going to the cinema for me is something necessary, at least once a week.  I go to different cinemas such as Grand cinema, Cinema city, Vox Cinema and Rell Cinema. I go to different cinemas because each cinema have something special and in the same time I can walk in different malls.

These days, I prefer to go to Vox Cinemas which is in Mirdif City Center but, the most cinema that I prefer and like is Cinema City which is in Arabian Center. Although that it’s the smallest cinema compering to the others, I liked it a lot. It’s not crowded and you can go any time and book seats for you. But, if you went to Rell Cinemas, there will be no seats; you will have to set in front of the screen because it’s always full.

Before entering the movie, I like to have some snacks. The first thing that I order is the Pepsi and then I choose whatever I like such as Popcorn, corn, nerds and nachos.

I see all type of movies (Comedy, Action, Romance and Drama) except, the horror movies. Actually, today I will go to the cinema. I will see fast and furious 6, it’s an action movie. I am sure that I will not be able to book seats in DM so, I may go to Arabian Center to see it.

Birthday Cakes

In my family, having a birthday cake has become something normal. We like eating cakes and sing happy birthday songs together. These birthday parties starts from January,21 and end on December, 2.

We do these parties for all members of the family; we do it for children’s, girls, boys and for grandparents.  Although that my grandparents are totally against having birthday parties but, seeing the family together to celebrate and sing, make them happy and approve to do these parties.

As you can see from this picture, we did a birthday cake for pregnant woman. She is my sister; we did this special cake for her because she had just known that she is pregnant with her first child. So, we make the birthday cakes similar to the occasion or the interest of that person.

The second birthday cake was for my other sister, she like taking pictures a lot. in fact, she is the person who always take pictures for us. She have a Nikon camera, that’s why we did this special cake for her.

This cake was made for my aunt, always drink Cola. In fact, her nick name is Cola Lola as you can see from the picture. So, everyone call her by this name.  Actually, we always do for her a cola cake and she is happy with that, she doesn’t want to have any different design to her cake.

The last birthday cake was for me, they did for me a Pepsi cake because I am the only person in the family who drinks it. I drink only Pepsi and nothing else, its normal to me to drink two or three on a day. Everyone in my family advises me to leave it, they say it’s bad but, I used to drink it. You can see that I also have a nickname that’s my friends and family call me by it.

Work Placement in DED

In my College, Dubai Women’s College (DWC), we as students have to work in some companies before we graduate so that we know the type of work that we will do later . All students have to work in a department that is similar to their major.

The company which I had the chance to do my work placement in is a Department of Economic Development (DED). As an accounting student, I started to work in the accounting department in DED. DED was established in March 1992. It is directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice president & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

I enjoyed working their a lot, the employees were very friendly and nice, I felt that I am part of them and that I knew them for a very long time.Working their helped me a lot during my work experience. It gave me an idea about the kind of work that I would do in future.

Moreover, the employees their were understanding of the importance of this opportunity to me as a student and as a future employee. They gave me some of their time and explain their work. They did not only explain to me but, I had the opportunity to do some of their work.

I really advise the students to have their work experience in DED, they will learn lots of things. Moreover, the environment there is very welcoming, the students will not feel that they are not welcomed.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is one of the greatest Indian movies that I ever saw. I think that I saw it for a 1000 time and to this day I see it. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham means sometimes happy, sometimes sad. There are lots of stars in this film that I really adore watching their movies such as Amitab Bachhan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. I like each single of them and what about when they act together in one movie.
The film tells the story of an Indian family, which faces troubles and misunderstandings over their adopted son's marriage to a girl belonging to a lower socio-economic group than them.

I put this specific part from the movie because it’s the most part that affect me. You will see the youngest brother (Hrithik Roshan) meets his oldest brother (Shahrukh Khan) after years. He was very happy and sad in the same time. He wanted to tell his brother that he is his little brother but, he prefer to be silent till he solve the problem between his brother and his father.

Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic root ramida or ar-ramad, these words mean scorching heat or dryness.

Ramadan is the month were Muslims worldwide are fasting. Fasting is started from dawn until sunset, this mean that they cannot eat and drink  before that.  As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking.

Ramadan is the month of improvement and increased worship, Muslims encouraged to read the entire Quran. Moreover, Muslims increase their prayers by the voluntary prayers which are held in the mosques every night of the month. This prayer is called Tarawih.

Children’s are not required for fasting but, it’s required for grown-up Muslims. Grown-up Muslims who are ill, travelling, diabetic, pregnant are excused. No one knows how many days this month will take, it can be 29 or 30 days. This can be known based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon.

Family Gathering

Birthday Party
The most important thing in my life is my family. In order to be in contact with each individual in the family, me and my family meet once a week. Family gathering is the time when all members of a family meet to reconnect and bond with each other. We gather on Friday after the prayer time. We gather in one house, most of the time we gather in my grandparent house.

On this day, women, men, children and maids do lots of activities and things. The children usually play outside the house. They play football, races, fun games and swim in the pool. The children continually come to their mothers complain about each other.

The men in my family gather in the lounge after the lunch, sometimes they invite their friends and group themselves. After that, they began to play card or watch football games. The women regularly hairs the men shouting on each other because one of the groups is cheating.

The women usually prefer to chat with one another. We congratulate the person who graduates, engage, get pregnant or have a baby. Moreover, we share potluck recipes and reminisce. Most of time, we have to solve the problems between kids and listen to the fight between men.

Sometimes, our family find ideas to enjoy and do new things on this day like we wear funky family reunion t-shirts, play water and soap game, play paintball, organize a birthday party, do a trip, cycling and barbecue.

Although that sometimes my family drives me crazy, they are still worth the effort to get together. We share amazing moments despite if it were good, bad, funny or sad. My Family always tries to make a positive difference in my life.
